Nice start Nica. Like with Mark, I wish I could see some dry ground out in the garden and some warmth would be appreciated. Looking at the weather forecast, 60° would be an improvement over the next couple days.

Well Mickey, I'm finally making some progress in the garden. Everything is in and planted, even got 3 apple trees and some blueberry bushes to add to the mix. Corns up already, and got a nice crop of peaches on the tree. They're bigger'n marbles already...here's hope'n!

It has been dry and blue skies for a couple days so I spent some time out in the garden. Time for second planting on the radishes. First crop turned out OK. While weeding the lettuce close by I spotted this guy. Texas size radish and at a little more than an inch in dia. The one next to it is about the size one finds at the store.

Yesterday we got the tomatoes and peppers planted. Looks like this AM none took the transplant hard, all looking good.

Did the second planting of corn a few days ago and expect I'll be seeing shoots about mid-week next week.

Things going better your way?

This was taken last week. With the rain the past week it is now so green with grass and weed sprouts between the rows it is hard to see the crop. Need to get out there tomorrow and see if I can make a dent in it. Also the bad part about using the drip hose is makes it tricky to get the tiller in there. Unless I pull the hose I will probably just hoe and pull. With my luck if I pull the hose we'll turn hot and dry again.

The weather has been a bit rough on the garden this year. We had 100*F days for 5 days straight that fried about half of my seedlings as they emerged, so those have been re-planted. A few violent thunder-storms cleaned about half of the peaches off my tree.
I just can't figure out who planted all those weeds in my garden, they weren't there before I did my plantings.

Well, I have the rows cleaned up some now. I was surprised how wet the soil was yet from the rain. I pulled out the drip hose, pulled the outside tines off the tiller and went at it. Could have spent half the day hoeing and it was too danged hot for that.

Corns really doing well, cabbage needs sprayed for bugs after this rain gets through tonight, peas and carrots growing but very slow. I think it's just been too hot and wet for them.

Today I spied a squirrel in the yard along with the chipmunks. It's been several years since we had a squirrel in the yard daily. Deer were eating under the bird feeder just after dark last night. On the plus side I have not seen any rabbits for a couple of weeks now. My neighbor sets out traps for the rabbits so he may have got them.

Speaking of rabbits, I picked up an old, used Red Fox 3D foam archery target by Delta for $5 this spring. I had been planning on using it just for shooting, but decided I would try leaving it out for rabbits. So far I have only seen 1 rabbit near my garden this spring, and only after I've put the Fox away for the day (I leave the fox out in the yard at night). I don't know that it keeps the rabbits away or not, but it drives the neighbors dog nuts so that's $5 of entertainment regardless

You know, I have a black lab next door. I might have to try that.

Here we go a little shy of one month later of the last photo. I pulled up the last of the radish as they had started to bolt and tilled in the three remaining carrots that the weeds did not kill. Figured I'll let the spot dry for a few days before replanting. There's a 70% chance of rain tomorrow so I may have to add a few more days to that. Corn has tassel just emerging from the stalks. It is about 3-4' in height right now. Peas, beans, and tomatoes are in the early stages of blooming.
