I don't know Lone. Ever since you bought that nifty monster rig, I've been taking close note of every such truck that goes by me on regular state and town roads and I gotta tell you: That would probably be too much truck for the poor old Dougster™ to handle comfortably... even out in (wider open) Western MA where the old Jayster lives! I know that someday I'll need a dump truck big enough to haul around a full-size hoe, but at least the overall length won't be nearly so long.

Of course LarryRB (who used to drive the large rigs all over creation) thinks I'm nutz... but then again LarryRB ALWAYS thinks I'm a little nutz!

Default Rig Is Here

Dougster :

You could always turn your rig around on my lower 7A's. Right now I am trying to catch the ATV rider who is riding on my upper woods . I already tracked the trail back to the rider's house. Jay

That's what big boulders are for Jay! And the big FELs we use to move them into place!

In fact, I will be doing the same later today to keep one of my evil neighbors and his crazy rider lawnmower from using my property as his own personal turn-around spot!

Well, finally had to buy fuel after only a month (and all the time in the shop).
And the truck tanks took 80 gallons on 535 miles.
That's like 6.7mpg

That's outstanding.
I'm very excited. I sure am still learning how to drive it and we do a lot of idling (short trips, getting air up, loading and unloading running the wet line, etc)

I think that's awesome
that's better than half of 2 trucks getting 12mpg.

Not bad at all Lone! My pathetic Chevy 2500HD (6.0 gas) only gets 8 MPG with a full trailer load (hauling the Red Beast or the a full 10K dump trailer) and 9 MPG with an empty (or near empty) trailer.

The Chevy dealer keeps calling me trying to get me to "trade up" to a smallish 2008 Chevy diesel dump truck... but it can only happen after I win that damn PowerBall lottery.

Thats pretty bad considering my Naviagator significantly gets much better empty or loaded - and I believe it weighs more (6k lbs)

My F550 6.0 diesel does about the same as my navigator - loaded too

My 35K lb. RV with a 450 hp Cummins got an average of 8.3 mpg including idle. On a long trip, keeping my speed down to about 55 to please my wife, I got as much as 10 mpg.

Well, new update
Been averaging in the 6's for mileage
but the last couple hundred miles have been a lot of freeway and less in town (although that includes traffic jams)

so, got gas today after 344 miles (yesterday, we were in Wellington, 30 miles south of Wyoming, today we were south of Sedalia, about 30 miles south of Denver, we've been driving a LOT)

8.2mpg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hell, that's better than Dougster's pickup without a load.

Shoot, i had a 2003 Ford F250 with a V10 (6 speed manual) and towing it only got 7-8mpg

woohoo.

and nothing broke.

Give it time Lone... give it time! The LC can break almost anything!!!

Yes, 8 MPG beats me in both snowplowing mode and fully-loaded towing mode.

I've been very pleased lately to see that trailer-free (a rarity for moi) that I am getting up to 10 MPG city and up to 12 MPG highway. Together with the falling cost of gasoline, this reduces my cost for collecting and re-delivering pumpout heating oil to an almost tolerable level.
