Well, if you have a Duramax Diesel and do NOT own a code unit capable of clearing codes...and you get thrown into LIMP Mode...you will take quite a while getting over to Advanced...

But without the Diesel in the equation...I agree with your observation...The reader is a NICE to have....BUT NOT REQUIRED...

Unless, of course, the car won't move (or shouldn't be moved).

Zero regrets on buying my reader/scanner... even if it was from HF!
