Default Tires

Lordy do I spend a lot on tires.
They just simply don't last on trailers

But I know why

Because they are all made in China and therefore complete junk

Lost yet another one today. $225 for ONE TIRE!!!! (it's an odd size, 9x14.5, load range G), but the only replacements were made in guess where? Fudge

And one truck needs new rears, they are pretty bald.

I feel your pain Lone. But it's a battle we're losing and it ain't gonna get any better. Buy the best Chinese tires you can possibly find (yes, I know - an inherent contradiction) and pray to God that they don't kill you.

I used to own an ant farm but had to give it up. I couldn't find tractors small enough to fit it.

Check out the Michelin LTX A/S Load range 'E', service class 121/118. I use them on my Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 Quad diesel for on road, off road, and towing my 8500lb travel trailer and my 7000lb utility with my tlb. I've got 50k on them now, kept the pressure at 70psi, and rotated them every 2500mi. They've still got another 5k or so mi to go, and have worn evenly with no problems over the 4+ years I've had them. I think the tread wear rating is like 620. They're about $183 ea on 'The Tire Rack' web-site.

I just picked up 4 of those Michelins, figured I'd beat the announced price increase of 5% to 35% on tires.

update
3 weeks ago, two new front tires on 06 Chevy 2500HD. Michelin somethings. $400

2 days ago, left front tire on NH TC45, 3 holes, holes on top of holes, couldn't be patched. $150

Yesterday
left rear tire, NH TC45
cut on the ****ing sidewall.
$621

I've about had it with ****ing tires.
Oh, the TC45 has a grand total of about 250 hours on it, already needing tires because of cuts. MFer.

We all have our particular business crosses to bear LC. Yours just happens to be tires. My "crosses" include megabuck excavator's liability insurance, expensive-yet-ineffectual phone book advertising... and staggering restoration parts costs because I can only afford to buy "slightly used" equipment.

If it's any consolation, I need two new front tires for the Mahindra... and you don't want to even hear what replacement mini-ex tracks cost!

Brian,
Have you ever looked at Hercules tires. I ran them on my pick up for about 6 years. I averaged around 65 to 75K miles per set. I was running the Terra Trac load rang E. They give you the ability to run up to about 80 psi for the heavier loads. Prices on them was fairly reasonable . If memory serves me correctly it was about $450 for a set of four mounted and balanced.
They also carry a line of commercial and trailer tires.
